DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTERISED STADIUMINFORMATION SYSTEM (A CASE STUDY OF NNAMDI AZIKIWE STADIUM, ENUGU STATE)

CHAPTER ONE

1.0                                           INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study
The term information system evolved from a broader area of study; management information system(MIS), when computers were first used in mid 1950s, the applications were primarily. The simple processing of transaction records and preparations of business documents and standard reports. Davis(1997). This use was termed data processing (DP) or electronic data processing (EDP).
By the mid, 1960s, many users and builders of information processing systems developed a more comprehensive vision of what computers could do for an organization. This vision was termed, a management information system (MIS). It enlarged the scope of data processing to add systems for supporting management and administrative activities including planning, scheduling, analysis and decision making.
In the 1980s and 1990s, their was merging of computer and communication technologies. The organizational use of information technology was extended to internal networks (intranet) local area networks, external networks that connect an organization to its suppliers and customers and communication systems that enable employee to work alone or in groups. Davis (1997).

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A WEB-BASED EXAMINATION SYSTEM (A CASE STUDY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY)

CHAPTER ONE
1.1                           INTRODUCTION
The advent of web application into the computing technology has brought about a significant revolution in our social life including the traditional system of education and examination. Many institutions are beginning to re-evaluate their traditional methods and have considered providing pedagogical materials through the internet. Several studies have been carried out on distance education which encompasses web classroom and web based online examination (Yuan, et al, 2003; webet, yr, Jackson et al 1997 and sting et al; 2000) to mention a few one important area of application of the web technology is in the development of web based testing and assessment systems offer greater flexibility than the traditional approach because test could be offered at different times by students and in different locations (Jay, et al 2001). More importantly, question could be shuffled having the same structure and level of different contents. Basically the electronic examination system involves the conduct of emanations through the web or the internet and it reduces the large proportion of workload on examination, training grading and reviewing. The set of questions often used in the e-examination system are multiple choice objective tests and quizzes that can be formally and easily evaluated online.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A SOFTWARE RESULT PROCESSING AND TRANSCRIPT GENERATION (A CASE STUDY OF FEDERAL COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE ISHIAGU, EBONYI STATE).

ABSTRACT

Result processing can be seen as a continuous process of converting data (scores, grade points, credit units etc) into a definite and meaningful information (statement of result, transcripts etc). These results are used to check the performance of each student in various courses. These results when processed manually leads to many problems such as error during computation, insecurity of results, untidy results after changes must have been effected and work load on the exam officer(s) etc. However, designing and implementing, as well as the computerization of result processing and transcript generation system will reduce these problems to the barest minimum. Providing password can do this, which grants access to only authorized user(s). Corrections or changes are effected without making the work untidy. Also stress on exam officer(s) is or are reduced. The design and implementation will be developed using the structured system analysis and design methodology (SSADM). The new system was designed using Visual Basic and MS Access. This language was chosen because of its easy syntax and features for developing web applications.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ONLINE CLEARANCE SYSTEM (A CASE STUDY OF CARITAS UNIVERSITY)

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF STUDY
Clearance is a status granted individuals, typically members of the military, university graduates and employees of governments and their contractors, allowing them access to classified information, i.e. state secrets. The term "clearance” is also sometimes used in private organizations that have a formal process to vet employees for access to sensitive information. A clearance by itself is normally not sufficient to gain access; the organization must determine that the cleared individual has a "need to know" the information. No one is supposed to be granted access to classified information solely because of rank or position, but once a clearance is obtained, access to certain information or gain of freedom will be granted. As many universities have choosing to pursue the dynamic educational options available online. The advantages of e-learning are many.
