EFFECTS OF JOB STRESS ON PERFORMANCES OF EMPLOYEES OF ABIA STATE TEACHING HOSPITAL, ABA ABIA STATE NIGERIA (2015-2020)

ABSTRACT

Job stress is a critical issue in the healthcare sector, particularly in high-pressure environments like teaching hospitals, where employees face numerous challenges that can affect their well-being and job performance. This study investigates the effects of job stress on the performance of employees at Abia State Teaching Hospital, Aba, Abia State, Nigeria, over the period from 2015 to 2020. The research aims to identify the primary sources of job stress among hospital staff, assess the impact of these stressors on employee performance, and explore potential strategies to mitigate stress and enhance productivity. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data from surveys and qualitative insights from interviews with employees across various departments, including medical, administrative, and support staff. Data analysis focuses on the relationship between job stress indicators—such as workload, work environment, and organizational demands—and performance outcomes, including job satisfaction, absenteeism, and overall work efficiency. Findings is expected to reveal that high levels of job stress, particularly due to excessive workload and inadequate organizational support, significantly contribute to reduced employee performance. The study also highlights the exacerbating effects of external socio-economic challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, which intensified stress levels during the latter part of the study period. Recommendations are provided for hospital management to implement stress management programs, improve working conditions, and offer better support systems to employees. This research will contribute to the understanding of job stress in the Nigerian healthcare sector, providing valuable insights for policymakers and hospital administrators aiming to improve employee well-being and performance. The findings are particularly relevant for similar healthcare institutions facing comparable challenges.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ONLINE NEWS EDITING SYSTEM

ABSTRACT
This project was centered on online news editing system. The current process of news editing is being operated manually and due to this procedure numerous problem are been encountered. A design was taken to computerized the manual process in order to check this problem. The problems were identified after series of interviews and examination of documents after which analysis was made and a computerized procedure recommended. This project will also suggest how to successfully implement the computerized procedure and to overcome the obstacle that would hinder the successful implementation of the system. The new system will be designed using top-down design methodology and implemented using XAMPP IDE on windows 7,8,8.1 system using PHP, HTML, CSS and MySQL technologies. DOWNLOAD MATERIAL (DOCX)

AN ENTERPRISE DATA WAREHOUSING SYSTEM FOR HIGH INSTITUTIONS

ABSTRACT

This project is an enterprise data warehousing system for exams and record unit FCA, Ishiagu which will help to over-come the undesirable problem associated with misplacement of student records, student’s grades, slow and strenuous accessibility of student report and record, inaccurate record keeping and poor information management within the schools. Here the aims and objectives of the study will be easily retrieved with increased data security, and there will be reduction in the amount of resources, which will lower the cost of processing of student transcript, since information is stored in a database with reduced data redundancy. This will also prevent over-working of personnel and reduce in the bulkiness of file and record. This program developed/designed will ensure easy flow of information in the school and accurate information management in all school.

WEB BASED APPLICATION FOR INSURANCE SERVICES CASE STUDY OF THE INSURANCE COMPANY

                                                                ABSTRACT
The present system of the insurance companies is characterized by the manual method as a result serious threat has been posed to the operation of the service and too much workload on the staffs. The manual method involves the marketing staffs moving from one location to the other to meet up with the requirement of their broker and also the files and data of their broker are stored in cabinet which are easily destroyed by rodents. With regards to this method the insurance computer application for insurance company would be developed this would have the ability to remotely connect insurance brokers in any location for them to carry out their insurance services and also their data would be stored in a secured database. In the software design, to achieve this task I intend to use the Microsoft visual studio platform and Microsoft access 2007 as the database to store the information.

INFANT FEEDING PRACTICES ADOPTED BY NURSING MOTHERS IN AMASIRI, AFIKPO NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study
Infant feeding practices play a pivotal role in determining optimal development of infants. Poor breast feeding and infant feeding practices have adverse consequences for the health and nutritional status of children, which in turn has adverse consequences on the mental and physical development. The three forms o f malnutrition; mild, moderate and severe have varying degrees of effects on the development of the child. It has been reported that more than 80% of deaths associated with childhood malnutrition result from mild and moderate malnutrition (WHO/UNICEF, 1999).  Adequate nutritional well-being during early childhood is critical and fundamental to long term development and attainment of each child’s full human potential (World Health Organization, 2005). Childhood malnutrition is a worldwide problem and the most widely spread disorder in tropical and sub-tropical areas, responsible for high infant morbidity and mortality rate observed among young children in poor households of developing countries(Smith & Haddad, 2000). Although the number of malnourished children in some regions of the world is decreasing, the proportion of malnourished children in developing countries and Sub-Saharan Africa in particular seems to be increasing rapidly. Inadequate infant and young child feeding practices coupled with high rate of infectious diseases due to poor hygiene and caring practices are proximate causes of malnutrition during the first two years of life (Semba & Bloem, 2008). The second half of an infant’s first year is an especially vulnerable time, when breast milk alone is no longer sufficient to meet his or her nutritional requirement and complementary feeding should start (WHO, 2001).
